'Gutsy Call'? My Ass: CIA Memo Reveals Admiral Controlled the Bin Laden Mission, Not Obama!

Today, Time magazine got hold of a memo  written by then-CIA head Leon Panetta after he received orders from Barack Obama’s team to greenlight the bin Laden mission. Here’s the text, which summarized the situation:

Received phone call from Tom Donilon who stated that the President made a decision with regard to AC1 [Abbottabad Compound 1]. The decision is to proceed with the assault.
The timing, operational decision making and control are in Admiral McRaven’s hands. The approval is provided on the risk profile presented to the President. Any additional risks are to be brought back to the President for his consideration. The direction is to go in and get bin Laden and if he is not there, to get out. Those instructions were conveyed to Admiral McRaven at approximately 10:45 am.

April 27, 2012 – New York, NY – In a first for network television, NBC News has been granted unprecedented access to the most secret and secure part of the White House, the Situation Room. In a “Rock Center with Brian Williams” exclusive airing on Wednesday, May 2 at 9p/8c, President Obama and his national security and military teams, relive the pivotal moments of the raid targeting Osama bin Laden.

The iconic photograph taken inside the Situation Room offered the world the first glimpse of a national security team at work during the Special Operations mission. Now, we will hear from many of the people in that photograph about what was taking place on that historic night.

The catch is that the intel came from sources that your Mighty-O disapproved of or voted against. (That is, if he voted for them) The key to remember is that he is taking credit where he can and not accepting any blame. If a sitting President cannot accept any accountability for hard or bad things, but try to take credit for only the positive items. It makes his credibility look... Fake.

  1. You have to remember that in Obamanazi's worldview, truth is all relative.

  2. I like your summary and agree. I do believe the decision making process was all about the ext election. Joe Biden all but confirms this when he says "This was the gutsy-ist call in (some idiodic number of years extending back beyond events such as the Doolittle raid, and thousands of other really gutsy things people have done.)

Biden continues "If this mission would have gone bad and we didn't get bin laden, the president might not get re-elected."

    So there you have it.

Jarhead, I don't know if you've worked in the business world wiht all sorts of middle managers but the incompetent ones, of which there are many, have one talent that they excel in. That is taking credit for other peoples work and blaming failures on others.

    That's obama to a Tee.

Thanks for the re-follow on my new blog address.

As IF Obama could run a raid like this, or would even want to....does anybody but a far leftwinger believe that?

  4. Your conclusion is brilliant. The apparatus George Bush put in place handed this to Obama on a silver platter.

  5. Nonetheless, expect to hear over and over again Obama bragging about how he "got" OBL.
